Join the Board of the Platform for Young Meta-Scientists (PYMS)

Are you an early-career researcher passionate about meta-science? As one of our current board members is stepping down, we’re looking for a passionate new board member to help shape the future of the PYMS community.

What does a board member do?

The PYMS board organizes events for our community, both online and in-person. Similarly, we actively engage with our community through Discord and represent PYMS at conferences and other events. We also aim to represent meta-science ECRs in committees, for example, as an affiliated partner within the Meta-Science Alliance.

The PYMS board is always looking for opportunities to grow and increase our visibility and network, and we are actively engaged in applying for grants and funding to support our activities. Over the last few years, we have been part of three small meeting grants that supported our in-person events and made it possible for our members to receive travel funding to attend.

What will be your tasks?

Acting as a liaison between PYMS and relevant initiatives
Supporting the planning and execution of PYMS events
Assisting with the internal organization of the board

On average, the role requires about 1 hour every two weeks. The workload may vary, with quieter periods and busier times around events.

The specific tasks will vary based on your experience and preference. We are flexible in moving responsibilities around to fit the qualities of each board member best!

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who:

Has a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Can commit for at least 1 year, but ideally more
Has a strong research interest in topics related to meta-science
Is currently or will soon be in a role related to meta-science (e.g., PhD, postdoc, research assistant, data manager, or other relevant position)
